Music can reinforce moods or provide a counterpoint. In times when optimism and good humour are not necessarily the order of the day, music can help prevent people from sinking into gloom. And experience shows that the more harmonious a high-end system plays, the more intensely the sounds affect the emotional world. Try listening to »Money's Too Tight« by Simply Red and try to maintain your bad mood. You won't succeed, especially not when the MB6 B pushes the bass into the listening room with power and force and doesn't allow itself the slightest impurity. Mick Hucknall stands between the loudspeakers and sings as if it were live, even though the recording was made in 1985 and was certainly not made for an audiophile target audience.

For fine ears

Coldplay is playing, not loudly, but discreetly. Then »Sparks« begins and we marvel at the high information content. If it were about images, we would be talking about an increase in pixels. The music, on the other hand, is all about new nuances, about details in the articulation, and here again it is the fascinating size of the spatial imaging that makes it clear that we are dealing with an above-average speaker. Let's stick with the live guitar theme with »Wheels« by Fink. Here, the bass strings sound as they should, and even if you can't hear the audience, you can feel that they are present. Depending on the degree to which the speakers are angled, you can optimise this acoustic »view« into the depths, which then extends very far.

When the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, conducted by Andris Nelsons, performs the »Tannhäuser« overture, the orchestra fills the stage in all three dimensions. The tone colours of the wind instruments shine in the right measure, meaning that they do not overshoot the mark. Dynamic leaps are effortless, but this requires the right amplifier, which we found in Canor's Virtus I2. In addition to the sound characteristics, it also becomes apparent over time that the MB6 B are very pleasant playing partners, because you neither have the feeling of constantly wanting to vary the listening level, nor are there any sound-related signs of fatigue with these Danish speakers.
